What Does an Artist Want?

What does an Artist really want? Is it the appreciation for the work of art? Is it recognition?
But is it really these 2 that actually motivate an artist to create a work? These are some of the questions I pondered on after reading Ayn Rand's Fountainhead. Barney Stintson from How I Met Your Mother used to say "When I become Sad, I stop being sad, and I start being awesome”. I remember Fredric Nietzsche saying something on the grounds that it is the pursuit of happiness and not actual happiness that makes people geniuses and not actual happiness.

So if one needs to reach higher levels of productivity and creativity, It would mean staying at least marginally lesser than your actual amount of happiness.

The Induction Motor always runs at a speed lower than synchronous speed. The synchronous speed is the speed at which the Stator field revolves at(Given by N=(120*f)/P).The Induction motor can only stay revolving only if it stays marginally below the Synchronous Speed of Rotor and stator Fields coinciding would only be possible if the motor is stationary.>

Every Human needs the faintest tint of sadness to keep him running. But the idea seems confusing doesn't it. "Problems are fun. Results are boring" attitude can boost your creativity.

Even the Bhagavat Gita sticks with this ideology:

"Karmanya Va adhi kaarasthe |
Ma Phaleshu kadha cha na ha||"

Sense of Responsibility for any task brings along Expectation of Reward, said Krishna to Arjuna
Then what can be the best way to motivate oneself into doing a task at hand?
Rational Self Interest.
More on that in the next week.
